LAS VEGAS - Clark Corbett and Brien Davis both fired four-under-par 68s and share the lead after the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate at Southern Highlands Golf Club on Friday.
Corbett and Davis share a one-stroke lead with Florida's Camilo Villegas and enjoy only a narrow edge over 10 other players who all scored better than par.
The individual leaderboard was not the only place where UNLV and Florida tied. Both schools sit second in the team race after even-par rounds. Georgia Tech leads the 16-team field at one-under par.
Despite the impressive team round by the Rebels, Davis' career-low score did not figure into the team total. The Rebels' junior is playing the tournament as an individual.
Brandon Askew and Brett Foulds sit tied at 21st after carding matching 73s, and Ryan Moore's 74 completed the Rebels' team score.
UNLV's Calvin Kupeyan shot a 75 as an individual while J.C. Deacon's 79 was not counted toward the team score.
Second-round play in the Las Vegas Collegiate will begin at 8:00 a.m. PT.
