CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 59th-ranked UNLV men's team lost its second straight match when it was upset by unranked DePaul, 4-1, in Saturday's third round of the annual HEB Tennis Classic.
The Rebels fell to 4-4 overall and just 1-3 away from home this spring.
The Blue Demons began the day by winning a close doubles point. After UNLV's Romain Tug and Thomas Michaud won 8-3 at No. 3, DePaul won 8-6 at No. 1 and took the team point with a 9-8 tiebreaker victory at No. 2.
In singles play, Rebel Andreas Maurer tied things up by quickly winning 6-1, 6-2 at the sixth position. However, DePaul earned straight-set wins at No. 3, No. 4 and on court five to clinch the match. The remaining two singles matches were then halted.
Playing in the consolation bracket, UNLV will close out the three-day tournament by facing the loser of the Colorado/Boise State match on Sunday.
