LAS VEGAS - In recognition of National Women's History Month, the Las Vegas City Council honored several outstanding local women citizens in its bimonthly meeting Wednesday.
UNLV women's basketball coach Regina Miller and senior forward Linda Fr?hlich were among those honored by the council members. Miller was awarded Outstanding Coach and Fr?hlich Outstanding Athlete honors. Both were commended for being positive role models within the community and to young women throughout the Las Vegas area.
Miller, who completed her fourth season at UNLV, guided the Lady Rebels in 2002 to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 1994 season. She currently holds the fourth best winning percentage among UNLV all-time women's basketball coaches with a 76-41 (.650) record.
Fr?hlich, a three-time All-American and academic scholar, is the school's all-time leading scorer and the Lady Rebels' all-time leading rebounder. Fr?hlich and Miller were presented with the local community all-star awards by Mayor Oscar Goodman and Councilman Lawrence Weekly.
