KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The UNLV women's golf team shot a final round 305 and slipped to a ninth-place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship on Tuesday.
UNLV (303-302-305--910) began the day in a tie for sixth place, but were unable to break 300, as did most of the teams in the middle of the pack.
Ohio State won the event, defeating Oklahoma State by a single stroke after both teams turned in matching 296 scores.
Individually, the Buckeyes' Allison Hanna and Arkansas' Courtney Mahon shared medallist honors at one-over.
The Rebels' top finisher throughout the tourney was junior Hwanhee Lee, who tied for 26th. Lee (74-73-78--225) began the day in the top 10, but slipped after carding her worst score of the tourney.
Lee wasn't the only Rebel to post a 78 on Tuesday. Elena Kurokawa and Seema Sadekar both finished the day at six-over. Kurokawa tied for 45th at 15-over, while Sadekar followed in 50th, a stroke behind.
Sophomore Sunny Oh shot 75 on Tuesday to move to 11-over and tie for 31st place, and sophomore Young Pak shot 74 to move to 13-over and tie for 38th place.
The Rebels return home and close out the fall season on Nov. 10 when they host the Las Vegas Founder Women's Collegiate Showdown at Anthem Country Club.
