Lana Yamagata led the UNLV women's golf team in the top 10 after Sunday's first round at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge being hosted by Ohio State at Palos Verdes Golf Club (Par 71, 6,017 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Yamagata's even-par 71, which included a bogey-free back nine, put her in a tie for seventh. Also representing the Rebels are junior
Zi Yu Foong in a tie for 36th (+3), junior
Jane Huang (+5) in a tie for 51st, sophomore
Amber Chen (+6) in a tie for 58th and
Demi Du (+8) in a tie for 73rd.
The Scarlet & Gray (+14) will look to make a move up the team leaderboard into the top 10 from its tied-for-11th spot going into day two.
DAY-ONE LEADERS: UCLA takes the lead into day two at 2-under through 18 holes. Playing as an individual, Kansas' Kinslea Jones stands in first at 4-under 67.
