STORYLINE: The No. 26 UNLV women's golf team prepares for its final tournament of the fall but won't have to travel far as they play host this week to 14 teams at the Las Vegas Founders Women's Collegiate Showdown. The tournament will feature a standard 54-hole, score four-of-five format, with 18 holes to be played each day at the Rebels' home course, Anthem Country Club (Par 72--6,194 Yards) in Henderson. All teams will play a practice round on Sunday, Nov. 9, before beginning tournament play Monday morning. The Rebels will field a regular five-player squad, as well as play four individuals in the tournament, and will begin their practice round at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday. The squad will tee off on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m., and the individuals will go off at 9:30 a.m.

ABOUT UNLV: The Rebels return four starters and eight letterwinners from last season's NCAA Regional-qualifying team. UNLV began the 2003-04 campaign in improbable fashion, winning the Northwest Invite in Sunriver, Ore., by 12 strokes over TCU. Sunny Oh, who held a share of the lead after two rounds, tied for third and was joined in the top 10 by Hwanhee Lee and Seema Sadekar. Throughout the rest of the fall, UNLV has held its own with some stellar competition and boasts a 36-20-3 head-to-head record this year.

THE SHOWDOWN: This marks just the second year of the Showdown, which was played for the first time in November of 2002 at Anthem Country Club. New Mexico scorched the course in the final round for a nine-stroke win over UNLV, and the Lobos' Kristi Larsen won a one-hole playoff to settle a three-way tie between herself, UNLV's Sunny Oh and Texas A&M's Nicole Melton.

THE FIELD: A talented 15-team field is bound for Vegas, including five teams ranked in the top 30 and five individuals ranked in the top 50. UNLV hosts: BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Hawaii, Kent State, Missouri, Nevada-Reno, New Mexico, Oklahoma, San Diego State, San Jose State, Tennessee and UC Irvine.

THE LINEUP: The Rebels' five-player lineup for the Las Vegas Showdown will be Elena Kurokawa, Hwanhee Lee, Sunny Oh, Young Pak and Seema Sadekar. Four players will play individually: Christine Hentzner, Ayeesha Kosugi, Tina Mabanta and Erin McGough.

RESULTS: Live scoring and daily results can be found online at unlvrebels.com or golfstat.com.

HEAD COACH Missy Ringler: UNLV women's golf head coach Missy Ringler is in her second year at UNLV. The Bloomington, Ind., native guided the Rebels to their first postseason appearance last season, sent a player to the national championship and produced the school's first All-American in the sport. An All-Big Eight golfer at Iowa State from 1990-95, Ringler spent three years as the head coach at the University of Minnesota before taking over the UNLV program in its second year. She and her husband, Lance, welcomed their new son, Landon, on January 11, 2003.
