Moore, Lady Rebels Blow Past UTSA 76-44

LAS VEGAS - Sophomore guard Sheena Moore poured in a career-high 20 points and UNLV outscored Texas-San Antonio 42-14 in the second half on the way to a 76-44 victory on Friday night in women's collegiate basketball action from the Cox Pavilion. With the victory, the Lady Rebels moved to 6-2 on the season, and a perfect 4-0 at home, while UTSA fell to 2-6 on the season. The win was also the 99th at UNLV for head coach Regina Miller, as she now stands at 99-55 in her six years as the head coach of the Lady Rebels.

Moore posted a career-high for the second straight game, connecting on eight-of-11 from the floor, including both of her shots from behind the arc. She also added seven rebounds. RanDee Henry entered the game as the Mountain West Conference's leading scorer, but played just 18 minutes due to foul trouble, and scored 10 points. Sherry McCracklin also finished in double figures for the Lady Rebels with 15 points. UNLV shot a season-high 54 percent from the floor (27-50), and held UTSA to just 30 percent (15-50).

The Lady Rebels never trailed in the game, and opened up a quick 13-3 lead just under six minutes into the contest. The lead stood at nine, 26-17, before foul trouble forced UNLV to sit three starters. Texas-San Antonio would take advantage, cutting the lead down to four points, 34-30, entering halftime.

UTSA kept the game close for the opening minutes of the second half, and came within six points, 42-36, on a three-pointer from Dewella Holliday with 14:45 left in the contest. The Lady Rebels then turned up the pressure, outscoring the Roadrunners 18-2 over the next 7:22 for a commanding 22-point lead, 60-38. UNLV would hold the Roadrunners to just eight points total over the last 14 minutes of the game, and Tiffani Burries' layup with one second left gave the Lady Rebels their largest lead of the night at 32 points.

Ten players scored for UNLV, who recorded 14 steals for the game and outrebounded UTSA 42-29. The Roadrunners were paced by Nikki Hendrix with 14 points, while Dewella Holliday added 12.

The Lady Rebels will play their final game before the Christmas holidays on Sunday as they host South Florida at 3 pm in the Cox Pavilion.
