Blum Named Nevada Sportscaster Of The Year

Feb. 10, 2003

LAS VEGAS - UNLV Hall of Famer Bob Blum was recently named Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA).

Blum, known as the dean of West Coast broadcasters, is in his 16th season as the Voice of Lady Rebel Basketball. He has worked more UNLV games behind the microphone, about 800, than any other sportscaster in school history. A long-time Rebel supporter, Blum was voted into the UNLV Athletic Hall of Fame's Class of 2000 as a distinguished contributor.

Prior to UNLV, the California legend's voice graced broadcasts for Major League Baseball (MLB) and National Football League (NFL) professional sports franchises such as the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers.

In 1998, Blum was honored at the All-American Football Foundation banquet as its recipient of the Lindsay Nelson Sportscaster Award. The award honors individuals for lifetime achievement in the field of sports broadcasting.
