CORVALLIS, Ore. - In the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, the UNLV women's basketball team fell to Oregon State, 77-58, Friday night at Gill Coliseum.
Senior All-America candidate Constance Jinks (Chicago, Ill.) scored a team-high 17 points, while junior InFini Robinson (Detroit, Mich.) added 14 and sophomore Sherry McCracklin (Hazel Crest, Ill.) 11. For the game, the Lady Rebels were held to 36 percent shooting from the floor (20-55) and committed 18 turnovers.
Oregon State (15-14) began the nightcap on a 20-5 run and couldn't be stopped shooting 51 percent from the field (31-61). Four players for the Beavers scored in double-digits with two racking up double-doubles. OSU's Brina Chaney led all scorers with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Hollye Chapman had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Beavers pick up their 13th victory at home and even the all-time series with the Lady Rebels, 2-2. Oregon State also outrebounded UNLV, 40-29, and will move on to play Fresno State in the second round of the WNIT on Monday.
The Lady Rebels conclude the year at 17-12 overall to mark their fifth consecutive winning season under UNLV coach Regina Miller.
