AUSTIN, Texas - The UNLV women's golf team was one of just two squads in the 12-team field at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational to improve upon its first round score on Monday, shaving one shot off its first-round total to climb into sixth place on the leaderboard.

UNLV shot a 32-over par 320, one stroke better than Sunday's 321. Northwestern also pulled a stroke off its total, but sits 22 strokes behind the Rebels.

With the move, the Rebels are within striking distance of as many as three other teams. Ohio State, currently in third place, leads UNLV by just 10 shots.

The team competition turned into a two-horse race as Oklahoma State leads host Texas by four shots.

Individually, the Longhorns' Jessica Reese retained the top spot in the standings. Reese shot even par at The Hills Country Club (Par 72-6,247 Yards) and now leads the field by nine.

The closest Rebel to Reese's heels was Elena Kurokawa. Despite carding a nine-over par 80, Kurokawa climbed from 16th to 14th and trails Reese by 18 shots.

Hwanhee Lee was the Rebels' low player of the day, matching her first-round score of 79. She is tied for 16th place overall, one stroke behind Kurokawa.

Rounding out the Rebel scorecard were Christine Hentzner, who shot 81 and is tied for 35th at 21-over par, and Erin Borcherts, who fired 80 and is tied for 42nd at 23-over. Young Pak scored 93 on Monday and fell to 60th place at 30-over.

Final-round play will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT.
