AUSTIN, Texas - The UNLV women's golf team shot 32-over par for the second straight day and finished in a tie for seventh place overall at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Tuesday.
The Rebels demonstrated very steady scoring on the par-72, 6,247-yard Hills Country Club Course, firing rounds of 321, 320 and 320. At 97-over par, UNLV finished 65 strokes behind champion Oklahoma State.
Individual medalist honors went to Texas' Jessica Reese, who led wire-to-wire after carding a first-round 67. She won the event by 12 strokes over teammate Devan Anderson and led UNLV's top finisher, Hwanhee Lee, by 23 shots.
At 19-over, Lee tied for 15th. She was joined in the top 20 by Elena Kurokawa, who tied for 20th at 21-over.
Rounding out the Rebels' scorecard were Christine Hentzner in 31st place at 27-over and Erin Borcherts, who tied for 48th at 36-over. Young Pak placed 61st, 43 stroke over par.
For the second time this season, UNLV fought to a draw with Arkansas, now guided by former Rebel head coach Kelley Hester.
The Rebels return to the links next week, heading up the road to nearby St. George, Utah, to compete in the BYU-Utah Dixie Classic on April 6-8.
