LAS VEGAS - UNLV's backcourt was the story of the night, as InFini Robinson scored a career-high 24 points while hitting six-of-seven from three-point range, and Sheena Moore added 15 to give the Lady Rebels a 76-58 win over San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference women's basketball season opener for both teams on Saturday night from the Cox Pavilion. The Lady Rebels improved to 12-2 (1-0 conference) with their seventh straight win, and are now 9-0 at home for the season, while San Diego State fell to 5-9, and 0-1 in the MWC.

Moore and Robinson combined for 39 points, marking the first time all season that two guards were the top two scorers for the Lady Rebels. RanDee Henry, the MWC's leading scorer, was held to 10 points, but grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Sherry McCracklin also posted double figures with 13 points.

Robinson hit four of her three-pointers in the first half on the way to 16 points, helping the Lady Rebels take a 42-27 at the end of the first stanza. UNLV, who never trailed in the game, held a 26-22 before four straight points from Moore started a 16-5 run over the final 6:42 of the half for the 15-point halftime advantage.

UNLV opened the second half on a 13-2 spurt for its largest lead of the game, 55-29 with 16:39 left. San Diego State would rally, scoring 15 unanswered points over the next 5:40, cutting the score to 55-44 on Michelle Elliott's layup with 11:59 left. Robinson answered back with two free throws and a trey, part of a 7-0 Lady Rebel run, and the Aztecs would come no closer then 13 the rest of the game.

The Lady Rebels shot 47.8 percent for the game, and were 7-of-10 from behind the arc. UNLV was 25-34 at the line for 73.5 percent, and outrebounded the Aztecs 35-24. San Diego State finished 21-of-49 for 42.9 percent from the floor, and was 13-of-17 at the charity stripe. Elliott led the Aztecs with 18 points, while Veronica Shaw came off the bench and hit all six of her shots on the way to 15 points.

The Lady Rebels continue their four-game homestand as they host MWC rival Colorado State on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 pm in the Cox Pavilion.
