Las Vegas - UNLV women's golf faces its toughest challenge of the season as the Rebels play in the 42 Annual Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate Challenge on Oct. 15-17 in Palo, Alto, Calif.
It will be the first time in the Rebels' history that they have played in the prestigious tournament. This year's 18-team field features 10 of the top 30 teams in the country according to Golfweek, including No. 3 UCLA, No. 5 Washington and No. 9 Arizona State. UNLV is currently ranked No. 38.
The tournament will be a three-day, 54-hole event played at the Stanford Golf Course, which measures 6,168 yards and is a par-72 layout. Teams will be comprised of five individuals and the four low scores each day will count toward the team total.
UNLV's contingent will be made up of junior Elena Kurokawa, sophomore Seema Sadekar, senior Young Pak, freshman Allison Chell and senior Tina Mabanta.
Chell is a true freshman who broke into UNLV's lineup in the Rebels last tournament at the University of Washington. She responded by posting a team-low 229 (+13) to finish tied for 12th.
