Las Vegas - UNLV plays its second tournament of the season as the Rebels play in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at the Sahalee Golf and Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. The par-72 course measuring 6,192 yards hosted 1998 and 2002 NEC World Golf Championship and will host the 2010 PGA Championship.
The Rebels will be sending Seema Sadekar, Young Pak, Elena Kurokawa, Hwanhee Lee and Alison Chell to the tournament, which starts Oct. 4 and runs through Oct. 6.
Last season the Rebels finished eighth at the Ihlanfeldt Invitational behind the play of Sedakar. The sophomore finished in a tie for 17th with a three-day score of 229, the top score for UNLV at the tournament. This will also be the first collegiate tournament for Chell, who is a freshman from Queensland, Aust. Chell did compete at the season-opening Dick McGuire Invitational as an individual, but not with UNLV's top-five.
UNLV opened the 2004 fall-season at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., as Pak finished in a tie for 22nd with a three-day total of 225 (+6).
The tournament will be a three-day, 54-hole, five-player team event and the top four scores will count toward the team total. The tournament starts Oct. 4 and runs through Oct. 6.
Six top-25 teams will be in the 14-team field, including host Washington, which is ranked No. 2 by Golfweek. Oklahoma State (No. 8), Pepperdine (No. 9), Stanford (No. 20), California (No. 21) and BYU (No. 22) are also in the field.
