Lead Increased In Hawaii

KAHUKU, Hawaii - The UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 10-under-par 278 on Tuesday to remain in first place at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate at the Links at Turtle Bay Resort. The tournament's second round was played at the George Fazio Course (par 72, 6,535 yards).

After a first-round 2-under 286, the Rebels (286-278--564, -12) now lead the tournament by three strokes. Hawaii (291-276--567, -9) is in second place after shooting a second-round 12-under 276. UC Riverside (287-281--568, -8) is third, Oregon State (295-281--576, E) is fourth and St. Mary's (292-285--577. +1) rounds out the top five.

Travis Whisman (69-70--139, -5) leads the Rebels at 5-under and is tied for third with UC Riverside's Brandon Hillpot (73-66--139, -5) and San Diego's Bucky Coe (70-69--139, -5). Hawaii's Cody Wolfenbarger (69-66--135, -9) leads the tournament by two shots over St. Mary's Liam Kendregan (71-66--137, -7).

Other Rebel players are: Sam Hunt (T6; 72-68--140, -4), Ryan Keeney (T12; 72-70--142, -2), Jarred Texter (T17; 74-70--144, E) and Matt Kinsinger (T39; 73-74--147, +3).

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Wednesday at the Arnold Palmer Course (par 72, 7,199 yards).
