Lee Lauded By League

Dec. 2, 2004

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Hwanhee Lee was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for the month of November after capturing medalist honors at the Las Vegas Founders Showdown on Nov. 1-3, the league announced Thursday. It is the second time in her career that Lee has received the award.

Lee, a senior from Cerritos, Calif., entered the final round of the Founders Showdown in a three-way tie for first and went on to shot a two-under 70 on Anthem Country Club's par-72, 6,194-yard course. Lee carded a three-day total of 215 (-1), edging two players by one shot for the title. Lee's performance helped the Rebels win the team title by five strokes over Washington, 875-870.

Lee has been a mainstay in the Rebels' lineup from her freshman year and has missed only one tournament in her career. She is UNLV's career leader in rounds and tournaments played. Lee claimed the first individual title in Rebel history, winning the Lady Aztec Invite in 2002. She was named the MWC's Golfer of the Month following that win.
