LAS VEGAS - Taking on its second top-four opponent in as many days, the UNLV women's tennis team fell by the same score of 7-0, this time to California on Saturday at the Hellman Tennis Center.
The 38th-ranked Lady Rebels fell to 3-3 while the fourth-ranked Golden Bears improved to 6-1.
UNLV nearly earned the doubles point but after the squads split the first two completed matches, Cal won the deciding match 9-7. The Lady Rebel duo of Cindy Treber and Mery Constanti did win at the third spot, 8-5, over Jessica Shu and Catherine Lynch.
In singles play, the Golden Bears won every match in straight sets. At the top spot, second-ranked Raquel Kops-Jones won a first-set tiebreaker and finished off Gyorgyi Zsiros 7-6, 6-1.
Next up for the UNLV women is their annual spring invitational Feb. 27-29.
