Lady Rebels Blitz Air Force 85-48

LAS VEGAS - UNLV broke a two-game losing streak in impressive fashion, as the Lady Rebels blitzed Air Force 85-48 in Mountain West Conference women's basketball action on Saturday night from the Cox Pavilion. On UNLV's Senior Night, the Lady Rebels scored over 70 points for the 15th time this season, but just the first in the last six games as they shot 53.2 percent for the game, including 57.7 percent in the second half. With the win, UNLV moves to 19-6 on the year, and 8-4 in the MWC, while Air Force lost its 16th straight to fall to 3-22 overall, 0-12 in the league.

The Lady Rebels began the game missing six of their first seven shots, and fell behind 9-4 after the first four minutes. RanDee Henry then scored five straight points for UNLV to start a 14-0 run over a three-minute span, with Kameca Simmons' layup giving UNLV an 18-9 edge with 10:11 left in the half. The score was 25-18 in favor of UNLV when the Lady Rebels closed the half on a 16-5 run over the final six minutes, and they entered halftime with a 41-23 edge as InFini Robinson hit a trey at the halftime buzzer. After starting the game just 1-of-7 from the floor, UNLV finished the first half 14-of-19.

UNLV kept up the pressure in the second half, and holding a 59-38 lead with 12:18 left, blew the game open with a 19-0 run over the next 6:33. Henry's layup at 6:46 capped the run, giving the Lady Rebels their largest lead of the game at 40 points, 78-38.

Henry led UNLV with 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting, and added 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the year. Sheena Moore added 18 points, while Sherry McCracklin posted 14 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and a block. Before the game, UNLV honored its two seniors, Robinson and Padra Strong. Robinson finished with 11 points and five assists in the game, while Strong added three points, four rebounds, and two blocks. UNLV shot 53.2% (33-62), 46.7% (7-15) from three-point range, and recorded 11 steals.

Air Force was paced by Gwen Grove's 11 points, while Letricia Castillo added 10. The Falcons were held to 31.1% (19-61) from the floor, and were forced into 25 turnovers.

The Lady Rebels will close out the regular season on the road, as they first take on Utah on Thursday, March 4 at 7 pm (MST) in Salt Lake City, Utah. UNLV finishes the season at BYU on Saturday, March 6 at 4 pm (MST) in Provo, Utah.
