LAS VEGAS - UNLV sophomore golfer Sunny Oh has qualified to play in the LPGA Takefuji Classic at the Las Vegas Country Club this weekend after shooting a 72 in her qualifying round on Monday.
Oh, who qualified as an amateur, was one of just two players to earn a spot in the 144-player field. She and fellow Seoul, Korea, native Sunny Lee survived the pool of 16 players vying for the final two qualifying spots.
The Takefuji Classic will be played at the par-72, 6,494-yard Las Vegas Country Club from Thursday, April 15 through Saturday, April 17.
Oh's appearance will mark the first time a UNLV women's golfer has competed in an LPGA Tour event. She joins In Bee-Park as the only amateurs in the field.
The Rebels' top player is presently ranked No. 22 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
