LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Sports Marketing Department has announced the launch of the Runnin' Rebel Basketball Ticket Art Contest presented by Pepsi.
The contest is a chance for Las Vegas area kids (kindergarten - 8th grade) to design the look of the various tickets that make up the UNLV men's basketball program's 2004-05 season tickets. 12 winners will be selected to have their artwork adorn a ticket this upcoming season.
The art must represent Runnin' Rebel "tradition" and winners will be selected by a committee made up of various UNLV Athletics Department staff.
Entry forms will be sent to each Clark County elementary and middle school and may also be obtained from the Thomas & Mack Center, UNLV's websites UNLVRebels.com and UNLVtickets.com (beginning Tuesday, May 11) as well as in an advertisement in the Sunday, May 16 sports section of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Each of the 12 winners will receive two season tickets to the 2004-05 UNLV men's basketball season and a framed ticket of their design, which will be presented at halftime of the Runnin' Rebel 2004-05 season home opener.
Each participating school will have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to the season home opener and each child to participate will receive a coupon for one free balcony seat with each full price balcony seat purchased (while supplies last).
This contest marks the beginning of the Runnin' Rebels' community outreach efforts for the upcoming year. The next event on the calendar is a free youth clinic put on by UNLV student-athletes and coaches in June at the Henderson Multigenerational Center.
