Las Vegas - UNLV is holding its own against some of the top women's golf teams in the country, as the Rebels sit in ninth place Tuesday with a 22-over par 606 after 36 holes at the 26th Annual Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
Five of the nation's top-20 teams are in the McGuire field, including No. 2 Georgia and No. 5 Oklahoma State. UNLV entered the tournament ranked No. 16 by Golfweek.
Leading the Rebels is sophomore Seema Sadekar, who shot a 76 (+3) in the second round for a two-day total of 151 (+5). Hwanhee Lee is one stroke back after a second-round score of 77 (+4) for a total of 152 (+6). Elena Kurokawa struggled during the second round, posting an 81 (+8) a day after shooting a one-under par 71. Young Pak shot a 78 (+5) and Tina Mabanta rounded out the Rebels with a 78 (+5). The top four scores for each team are combined for the total team score.
Georgia is two-over par and leads host New Mexico by two strokes, 586 to 588, heading into Wednesday's final round. BYU is in third, five strokes off the pace with a 591 (+7). Pepperdine's 592 (+8) and Oklahoma State's 594 (+10) round out the top team scores.
Wednesday's final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. (PT) on the par-73 UNM Championship Course that covers 6,069 yards.
