Las Vegas - UNLV wrapped up its first trip to the links this season as the Rebel women's golf team finished 10th as a team and Young Pak came in 22nd individually Wednesday afternoon at the 26th Annual Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Rebels, ranked No. 16 in the nation by Golfweek, finished the 54-hole, three-day tournament with a score of 908 (+32), edging New Mexico State by a stroke to finish in the top 10. Six of the nation's top-20 women's golf teams were in the field, including No. 2 Georgia, which won the tournament with a combined team score of 874 (-2). New Mexico was seven strokes off the pace and finished second with a score of 881 (+5). The Lobos entered their own tournament ranked No. 10. Pepperdine finished third with a score of 882 (+6), BYU was fourth (888, +12) and the Arkansas was fifth (890, +14).
Pak led the Rebels, as she carded a three-day total of 225 (+6) to finish in a five-way tie for 22nd. Pak shot a one-under-par 72, the only Rebel to shot under par in the final round of play. Elena Kurokawa and Seema Sadekar finished in a tie for 44th with a three day total of 230 (+11). Hwanhee Lee (233, +14) and Tina Mabanta (234, +15) rounded out the Rebel scores.
UNLV is off for close to three weeks before resuming play on Oct. 4 at the University of Washington Tournament in Seattle, Wash.
