OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The UNLV men's golf team shot rounds of 290 (10-over par) and 292 (+12) on Sunday and are in a seventh-place tie after the first day of the Ping/Golfweek Preview at the par 70, 7,124-yard Caves Valley Golf Club. The Rebels are tied with Georgia at 22 over.
Oklahoma State leads the field of 15 teams at four-over par after 36 holes, sitting in the top spot after shooting rounds of 288 (+8) and 276 (-4). The Cowboys hold a three-stroke lead over TCU (286-281--567) and Georgia Tech (284-283--567).
Only two teams had sub-par rounds through the first two rounds. Oklahoma State's second-round total was four under, while Florida shot a second-round 278 (-2). The Gators are in fifth place.
Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin is the individual leader, carding rounds of 69 and 66 to finish five-under par after 36 holes. He has a three shot lead over Arizona State's Jesse Mueller (67-71--138) and TCU's Drew Pigg (69-69--138).
UNLV was led individually by Ryan Moore, who is tied for 15th place at three over (73-70--143).
The other Rebel competitors are: Andres Gonzales (T30; 70-76--146), Jarred Texter (T35; 73-74--147), Ryan Keeney (T38; 76-72--148) and J.C. Deacon (T52; 74-76--150).
Monday's final round of 18 holes is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. EDT.
