Lady Rebels Roll To Seventh Straight Home Win

LAS VEGAS - UNLV jumped out to a 26-10 lead and never looked back as the Lady Rebels cruised to their seventh straight home win, 76-51 over Air Force in Mountain West Conference women's basketball action from the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday afternoon. Shooting over 49% for the second-straight game, UNLV improved to 11-8 overall and 2-3 in league action, while the Falcons fell to 6-12, 1-4 in the MWC.

Senior forward RanDee Henry led all scorers with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and added seven rebounds, while Sheena Moore scored 13 points and dished out four assists. The Lady Rebels shot 50% (13-of-26) in the first half, and finished 29-of-59 from the floor for 49.2%. They also held a 41-32 edge on the boards. In all, 11 Lady Rebels scored, as UNLV got 27 points from its bench, including eight from Amy Loftus.

UNLV made 11 of its first 15 shots to begin the game, and Brittney Thomas' layup gave the Lady Rebels a 26-10 edge with 10:23 to play in the first half. They were up 35-20 on a jumper from Kisha Lee, one of 12 Lady Rebels that appeared in the second half, before Air Force scored the last five points of the half to close within 10, 35-25.

The lead hovered between 10-14 points for the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Following a three-point play from Alecia Steele that cut the score to 51-41, UNLV struck back with a 12-2 run. Henry's three-point play made the score 63-43 with 8:10 on the clock, and the Lady Rebels outscored Air Force 25-10 over the final 10 minutes for the 24-point victory. It also marked UNLV's first game over 70 points in conference play.

Air Force was paced by Letricia Castillo with 14 points, while Steele chipped in 11 points and six rebounds. The Falcons were held to 34.5% shooting, and were just 5-of-19 from downtown.

UNLV closes out the first half of the Mountain West schedule with a road trip to Utah. The Lady Rebels take on the Utah Utes on Thursday at 6 pm in Salt Lake City in a game televised by CSTV. Following that game, UNLV travels to Provo for a Saturday contest at BYU at 2 pm, in a game televised live by BYU-TV.
