LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team is ranked fourth in the nation in the latest edition of the Golf Coaches Association of America's poll and is sixth in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index Ratings.
Oklahoma State tops the coaches poll after earning 25 of the 27 available first-place votes and is followed by Georgia Tech, Georgia, UNLV and New Mexico. Georgia and UNLV are each receiving one first-place vote.
Georgia is ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek ratings and is followed by Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and UNLV.
The Rebels opened the season with a team title and an individual victory at the William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., Sept. 16-17, then finished fourth at the PING/Golfweek Preview in Sunriver, Ore., Sept. 26-28.
At the Tucker, UNLV senior Andres Gonzales won his first career tournament at 9-under, defeating teammate Jarred Texter by two shots. Texter, a sophomore, finished second at the event. Freshman Seung-Su Han finished tied for 13th at even par in the first action of his career.
At the Preview, Han led the Rebels with a 2-under performance and tied for 13th.
UNLV's next action will be October 23-25 at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla.
