Nov. 1, 2005

LAS VEGAS - Seema Sadekar carded her best round this fall, a three-under 69 that moved her up 27 spots on the leaderboard to 11th during the second round of the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown. No. 11 UNLV is in fourth place after shooting a 290 (+2) at Anthem Country Club for a two-round total of 581 (+5) heading into Wednesday's final round.

Sadekar's three-under marks the first time that the junior has broken par this year and gives her a two-round total of 144 (75-69, E). Sadekar had a mistake-free day on the links, knocking in birdies on holes three, four and 14 to go along with 15 pars. She joins teammate Da Sol Chung in the top 15, as Chung is tied for fourth-place with a score of 140 after shooting a second-round 73 (+1). Chung opened the day as the leader after she tied a tournament record yesterday by shooting a 67 (-5).

Grace Woo is tied for 24th (148, +4), Elena Kurokawa is tied for 34th (149, +5) and Allison Chell is tied for 67th (158, +14) to round out the Rebel lineup. Chelsea Pendleton finished tied for 80th (168, +24) and Erin McGough is in 83rd place (178, +34). Pak and McGough are seniors while Pendleton is a redshirt freshman playing in her first tournament for UNLV.

UCLA will carry a commanding lead into the final 18 holes as the second-ranked Bruins are 12-under with a two-round total of 564 following a 285 (-3) in the second round. UCLA is the only team in the tournament that is under par and the Bruins are 12 strokes ahead of Arizona, which has a two-round total of 576 (E). No. 4 Pepperdine is in third place (579, +3) followed by UNLV and Kent State (587, +11).

Chelsea Benton of Colorado State tied the tournament record for lowest round, rolling in a five-under 67 to move into the lead with a two-day total of 136 (69-67, -8). Benton's round came just a day after Chung shot a 67 of her own to take the first round lead. Jane Park of Arizona and Amanda Wilson are tied for second with a total of 139 (-5) and Chung and Hannah Jun of UCLA are tied for fourth at 140 (-4).
