UNLV game notes vs. Stephen F. Austin

The UNLV women's basketball team is are ready to begin its 2005-06 home schedule, hosting the Lady Rebel Shootout this weekend in the Thomas & Mack Center. UNLV will take on Stephen F. Austin in the second game at 4:30 pm on Friday, while Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech tipoff in the first game at 2 pm. Both of UNLV's games will be aired on KSHP 1400 AM, with Friday's game being played live, while their contest on Saturday will be tape-delayed beginning at 5 pm.
All three visiting schools are making a repeat visit to Las Vegas, as all three have participated in UNLV tournaments. Chattanooga played in both the UNLV 7-UP Desert Classic in 1992 an d the Four Queens Shootout in 1998, while Tennessee Tech played in the 7-Up Desert Classic in 1980 and 1993, the Holiday Ball Classic in 1995, and the 2002 Lady Rebel Shootout. UNLV's game on Friday against the Ladyjacks will also be the third meeting between the two schools, with the previous two coming in the championship games of the 1986 UNLV/Bud Light Tournament, and in the 1996 UNLV Lady Rebel Roundup, with SFA winning both contests.
UNLV is playing this year's tournament in the Thomas & Mack Center. The Lady Rebels are 83-23 at home under eighth-year head coach Regina Miller, and were 4-0 in games played in the TMC last season.
The Lady Rebels will look to continue their high scoring ways this weekend, as the top offense in the MWC the past two years has scored over 70 points in both their games this year (76.5 ppg). They are also one of the top rebounding teams in the league, and have a 4.5 rebound margin after the first two games of the season.
