KANEOHE, Hawaii - The sixth-ranked UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 10-over-par 298 on Wednesday to finish in second place at the University of Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate played at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course (par 72, 6,559 yards).
New Mexico State (283-287-301--871, +7) shot a final-round 13-over 301 to finish the tournament at 7-over and edge the Rebels (286-288-298--872, +8) by one shot to capture the team title. San Diego State (292-293-291--876, +12) finished third at 12-over, Baylor (290-289-300--879, +15) finished fourth at 15-over and Santa Clara (297-292-305--894, +30) rounded out the top five.
UNLV freshman Seung-Su Han (68-75-71--214, -2) shot a final-round 1-under 71 and finished in a four-way tie for first place at 2-under with San Diego State's Andrew Scott (72-69-73--214, -2), Baylor's Ryan Baca (68-73-73--214, -2) and New Mexico State's Robert Goff (71-73-70--214, -2). Goff won the playoff in four holes to earn medalist honors.
UNLV's Andres Gonzales (73-70-72--215, -1) and C.J. Gatto (66-72-79--217, +1), who held the individual lead after two rounds, both finished in the top 10. Gonzales finished fifth, one shot off the lead, at 1-under, while Gatto finished tied for eighth at 1-over.
Other Rebels: Jarred Texter (79-71-76--226; +10, T30th) and Eddie Olson (84-79-79--242; +26, T92nd).
The Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate wrapped up the fall season for the Rebels who will be off until the John Burns Intercollegiate in Wahiawa, Hawaii in February.
