The UNLV women's basketball team began the season with three straight losses, but have regrouped to move back into the top half of the Mountain West on the strength of their current four-game win streak, the longest active streak in the MWC. Standing at 6-5 (15-10 overall), UNLV can move into a tie for third place with BYU with a victory over New Mexico on Saturday in the Pit, in a game televised by CSTV at 1 pm (PST). However, the Lady Rebels are facing a Lobo team that is tied for first with a 9-2 record, and have won 12 straight games at home. One factor in UNLV's favor, they handed New Mexico one of its two MWC losses, 63-60 in Las Vegas on Jan. 27.

UNLV has struggled on the road this year, having claimed its first MWC road win on Thursday at Air Force, 70-63, to give them a 1-5 conference mark on the road. Though they will play in front of more then 10,000 Saturday, UNLV has had past success in the Pit. In the six-year history of the MWC, UNLV has one more win then any other team (2-3) against New Mexico in their home arena.

The top scoring team in the conference, UNLV's offense has been a key part in its current winning streak. After scoring over 70 points just once in the first half of conference play, the Lady Rebels have scored 70 or more in its last four games, all victories.

Junior guard Sheena Moore became the 14th Lady Rebel to score 1,000 points at UNLV in the game at Utah, and senior forward RanDee Henry is on pace to become the 15th, as she is 20 points away with at least four games left to play this season.
