LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Elena Kurokawa moved up seven spots Tuesday and is currently tied for 12th after she shot a 74 (+3) in the second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes, Calif. UNLV is in 14th place with a two-round total of 626 (+58).
Kurokawa began the day in a tie for 19th, but climbed up the leaderboard by making birdies on holes 12 and 14. She bogied three holes and also had a double bogey on the first hole, but is one stroke out of the top 10 heading into Wednesday's final round.
Hwanhee Lee sits in a tie for 36th place after shooting a 79 (+8) for a two-day score of 154. Seema Sadekar is in 72nd place (164, +22), Tina Mabanta is currently 75th (165, +23) and Young Pak is in 76th place (166, +24), rounding out the Rebels at the tournament.
After opening the challenge with a team score of 316, the Rebels improved by six strokes, carding a 310 (+23) on the par-71, 5,912-yard course at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The No. 25 Rebels are one of 14 top-25 squads in the 15-team
Duke's Brittany Lang held on to the top spot individually, shooting a one-over 72 for a two-round total of 140 (-2). Lang is the only golfer under par through two rounds.
No. 10 Pepperdine (592) leads the team competition by one stroke over No. 1 Duke and No. 3 UCLA, who both have a score of 593 after two rounds.
