The Mountain West Conference season has come into the final stretch, and UNLV looks to make its move towards a high tournament seed as the Lady Rebels take on BYU on Thursday night with the potential third seed on the line. The game will tip off at 7 pm in the Cox Pavilion.
The Cougars are currently third with a 7-5 league mark, but UNLV could climb into a tie with BYU with a win. UNLV also needs a win to keep pace with Wyoming, who is currently tied with the Lady Rebels with a 6-6 mark, and will take on last-place Air Force on Thursday at home.
UNLV will have the advantage of playing at home in the Cox Pavilion. The Lady Rebels have won 10-straight games at home, tied for 22nd longest home win streak in the nation, and have a chance to post their first-ever undefeated home MWC season if they can defeat BYU and Utah on Saturday. They have just three losses at home this year, with two coming to now No. 4 North Carolina and No. 20 Iowa State.
The top scoring team in the conference, UNLV's offense has been a key part in its rebound from a 2-5 start in MWC play. After scoring over 70 points just once in the first half of conference play, the Lady Rebels have scored 70 or more in four of the last five games, all victories.
Junior guard Sheena Moore became the 14th Lady Rebel to score 1,000 points at UNLV in the game at Utah on Feb. 3, and senior forward RanDee Henry is on pace to become the 15th, as she is 18 points away with at least three games left to play this season.
