HUMBLE, Texas - The UNLV men's golf team shot an opening-round 1-under par 287 at the Hall of Fame Invitational on Friday at Redstone Golf Club (par 72, 7,352 yards) and sits two shots back of team-leader TCU, which shot 3-under 285.
Wake Forest is third at 2-over 290, while Oklahoma, New Mexico and Oklahoma State are all tied for fourth at 4-over 292. The field is comprised of 19 teams.
Individually, Wake Forest's Kyle Reifers holds the first-round lead at 6-under 66 and is three shots ahead of New Mexico's Charlie Beljan, who is second at 3-under 69.
UNLV's Ryan Moore and Sam Hunt are in a seven-way tie for third place at 2-under 70 after the first 18 holes of the tournament.
Other Rebel players: Travis Whisman (73, +1; T19th), Andres Gonzales (74, +2; T28th) and Ryan Keeney (81, +9; T92nd).
Play continues with 18 holes on Saturday and concludes with another 18 on Sunday.
