LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The No. 26 ranked UNLV women's golf team ended its third-straight regional appearance with a three-round score of 917 (301-312-304, +53) to finish tied for 11th at the NCAA West Regionals at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
Seema Sadekar finished tied 20th for the Rebels, who were in sixth place after the opening round but could not hold on for a top-8 finish and a trip to the NCAA Championships.
UCLA and Tennessee finished tied for first with scores of 889 (+25) but the No. 2-ranked Bruins earned the championship based on the combined scores from the No. 5 players on each team through the three rounds. Cal finished third with a score of 891 (+27), Southern California came in fourth with a total of 892 (+28) and Oklahoma State rounded out the top five with a three-round total of 898 (+34).
The Rebels finished tied for Washington State for 11th. MWC member BYU earned a trip to the NCAA Championships, finishing in a tie for sixth with a three-round total of 906 (+42).
Sadekar fired a three-over 75 in Saturday's final round to finish in a group of six who carded a total of 225 for the regional. Sophia Sheridan of Cal was the only player to finish under par with a four-under 212 to win medalist honors by five strokes. Violeta Retamoza came in second with a one over 217 while Rachel Newren of BYU and Dewi Schreefel of Tennessee tied for third as both finished with a score of 218 (+2).
Young Pak finished tied for 32nd (227, +11), Hwanhee Lee came in tied for 57th (232, +16), Elena Kurokawa finished tied for 65th (234, +18) and Christine Hentzner finished in 84th (238, +22)
