LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's golfer Allison Chell was one of 199 collegiate athletes named to the 2005 National Golf Coaches Association Division I All-America Scholar Teams, the organization announced Wednesday.
Criteria for a student-athlete to be selected to the NGCA scholar team included a minimum 3.50 GPA and the player must have played in at least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Chell finished her freshman year with a 3.68 GPA while majoring in kinesiology. The freshman from Queensland, Australia, played in eight rounds for the Rebels last year, with her best performance coming at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Seattle, Wash., where she placed 12th.
Chell becomes the fourth Rebel golfer to earn the award, joining two-time winner Christine Hentzner, Tina Mabanta and Erin Borcherts.
