LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's golf released its 2005-06 schedule and two home tournaments highlight the slate, which includes five fall tournaments and five spring tournaments for the two-time defending Mountain West Conference champions.
The Rebels open the season on the road at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sept. 26-28 and then will play in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Washington and the Stanford Invitational in October. UNLV will then host the third-annual Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown, which attracts some of the top teams in the country. The tournament will be played at Anthem Country Club on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Henderson, Nev. UNLV is then tentatively scheduled to wrap up its fall at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play on Nov. 14-16 in Mission Inn Resort, Fla.
UNLV begins its spring season at the 2006 Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., on Feb. 20-21 before hosting the UNLV Spring Invitational on March 13-15 at Black Mountain Country Club in Henderson, Nev. It will be the second-consecutive year that the Rebels have hosted their own spring tournament, with both events being played at Black Mountain.
The Rebels will then travel to Tempe, Ariz., for the Ping ASU Invitational on March 31-April 2 and from there they will turnaround and head to St. George, Utah, for the BYU-Utah Dixie Classic on April 3-4. UNLV has won the classic three-consecutive years and it will be the last regular-season tournament for the Rebels.
The MWC Championships will be held in St. George as well and will be played on April 20-22 and the Rebels will be attempting to win their third-straight conference crown. The NCAA West Regional is May 11-13 and it will be played at the Washington National Golf Club and the NCAA Championships are May 23-26 in Columbus, Ohio.
