LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team, ranked eighth in the nation in the Golfweek preseason rankings, will open the 2005-06 season on Friday at the 2005 William H. Tucker Invitational at the University of New Mexico Championship Course (par 72, 7,350 yards) in Albuquerque, N.M.
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes of golf on Friday followed by Saturday's final round of 18 holes.
The Rebels, who finished third at last year's Tucker Invitational, will be joined at this year's event by Air Force, Arizona, BYU, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Texas A&M, New Mexico, New Mexico JV, Baylor, UTEP, Texas Tech, Colorado, Denver, Northwestern, Wyoming and Iowa State.
Competing for UNLV will be seniors Andres Gonzales and Casey Fowles, sophomore Jarred Texter and freshmen Seung-Su Han and Blake Trimble.
Arizona won last year's Tucker, which is hosted by New Mexico.
