UNLV AT UTAH STATE GAME NOTES
UNLV played at Utah State for the first time since downing the Aggies 23-21 in 1994.
The Rebels played an opponent from the WAC for the third straight week.
Utah State's 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the first allowed by UNLV since Utah's Morgan Scalley opened the game with one on Oct. 23, 2004.
Sergio Aguayo's 44-yard field goal in the first quarter was the longest of his career. The sophomore improved to 4-4 on the year, has made seven straight and 13 of his last 14 attempts. Aguayo's 51-yard attempt in the second quarter just missed left to end his streak at seven.
UNLV freshman WR Justin Marvel made his college debut.
UNLV's Jay Staggs caused a second-quarter fumble that Ernest Gordon recovered. Gordon has all three of UNLV's turnovers this season (two fumbles and one interception).
Aguayo's 45-yard second-quarter attempt was blocked, which was the first Rebel field goal attempt to be blocked since Reginald Cribb of Wisconsin got one on Sept. 11, 2004.
Freshman WR Casey Flair's 16-yard reception was the sixth of his career. He then brought in a 17-yarder for his seventh. Incredibly, all seven have gone for Rebel first downs.
Shane Steichen's second-quarter fumble was his third lost fumble of the season. Steichen then threw his fourth interception to end the first half. Steichen has all seven of UNLV's turnovers in 2005 - four interceptions and three fumbles.
