LAS VEGAS - Results
UNLV women's golf moved up two spots to eighth on Halloween Tuesday at the end second round of the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown, being played at Anthem Country Club. Scores were much lower as almost perfect conditions allowed several individuals to shoot low scores on the course.
The Rebels have a 36-hole score of 598 (300-298, +22) and are just seven strokes from moving into the top five as they enter Wednesday's final round. Da Sol Chung is pacing UNLV, as the sophomore is tied for ninth place with a two-round score of 145 (71-74, +5).
Oklahoma State made the biggest move of the tournament on Tuesday, firing an eight-under par 280 as a team to open up a nine-shot advantage over the rest of the field heading into the final round. The Cowgirls had a share of the lead with Arizona State after the opening round, but had four players shoot even par or better on a strong scoring day. The Sun Devils (581, +5) are in second place, followed by Pepperdine and USC, which are tied for third with scores of 585 (+9).
Ashley Knoll of Texas A&M and Azahara Munoz of ASU share the individual lead heading into the final round, as each have a score of 139 (-5). Munoz fired the low round of the tournament so far, carding a 67 (-5) on the par-72 course.
Rebel freshman Natasha Krishna is next on the leaderboard for the Rebels as she is in a tie for 15th with a two-round score of 146 (+2). Fellow freshman Kristin Ingram is tied for 44th with a 151 (77-74, +7) as she is playing in her first home tournament while Allison Chell is tied for 82nd with a 161 (82-79, +17). Rebel senior Seema Sadekar was able to play after missing the first round due to an illness and she shot a two-over 74 on the afternoon, the best round of the day for UNLV.
UNLV also has three student-athletes playing as individuals in the tournament, as Nicole McGirr is tied for 58th with a two-day score of 154 (+10), Kasi Lee is tied for 69th with a 156 (+12) and Melissa Mabanta is tied for 72nd with a 157 (+13).
The tournament finishes tomorrow with teams slated to tee off with a shut gun start at 8:30 a.m. (PST). Fans can follow the tournament live by going to www.golfstatresults.com.
