KAUAI, Hawaii - UNLV women's golf had no trouble adjusting to its first tournament on the islands of Hawaii, shooting a 596 (+36) over 36 holes on Wednesday and the Rebels are in third place at the Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational. The tournament is being played on the par-70 Kiahuna Golf Course and the first two rounds were completed today, with the final 18 being played tomorrow.
UNLV freshman Natasha Krishna leads the tournament with a two-round score of 143 (+3) after she opened with a 72 and then followed that with a 71 on the 6,183-yard course.
Pepperdine has the team lead heading into tomorrow's final round, as the Waves have a two-round score of 590 (+30), five strokes in front of host Purdue, which is at 595 (+35). UNLV is next in a field of nine teams.
UNLV sophomore Da Sol Chung is next for UNLV, as she carded a 36-hole total of 148 (+8) which has her in seventh place. Chung had a share of the first-round lead after opening with a 71 (+1), but she followed that with a 77 (+7) to close her day. Rebel senior Seema Sadekar also cracked the top 10, finishing tied for eighth with a two-round score of 179 (+9).
Rebel freshman Melissa Mabanta is tied for 27th with a score of 156 (79-77, +16) and sophomore Kasi Lee is in 42nd after shooting a score of 162 (79-83, +22).
The final round gets underway tomorrow morning with a 10:30 a.m. (PST) shotgun start.
