For the first time this year the Lady Rebels will play a top-25 opponent, as they will host 19th-ranked DePaul on Thursday night in the Cox Pavilion at 7 pm. It will also mark the second time UNLV will be appearing on the new mtn network, which has just become available in the Las Vegas area, on Cox Digital Cable Channel 334.

Thursday's game is a rematch of the 2005 DePaul Invitational championship game, in which UNLV held a five-point second half lead before DePaul rallied for an 88-72 victory in Chicago. The Lady Rebels are sporting an almost completely different team from the one that gave the Blue Demons a competitive game last year, as in last year's loss, 56 of UNLV's 72 points (78%) were scored by the now-gone senior class, including 25 from Sheena Moore and 21 from Brittany Thomas. Faye Muller (7), Kameca Simmons (7), and Sequoia Holmes (2) are the only players on this year's squad that scored in the game last year. DePaul's returning players meanwhile scored 51 of its total 88 points (58%).

The Blue Demons have continued their high scoring ways again this year, as they rank in the top 20 in the nation in scoring at 79.4 points per game. UNLV meanwhile has had its biggest troubles this year on the offensive end, as the inexperienced Lady Rebel squad is second to last in the Mountain West in scoring, and rank last in three-point percentage, three-pointers per game, and free throw percentage, in which UNLV is actually 322nd out of 324 teams in the nation.
