The UNLV women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday night, as they host TCU at 8 pm in the Thomas & Mack Center.
Thursday's contest is not only the first-ever Mountain West Conference meeting between UNLV (12-6, 4-3) and TCU (11-7, 5-2), as the Lady Frogs are in their first year as the league's ninth member, its also the Lady Rebels' first television appearance this season.
CSTV, who takes over as the conference's TV partner starting next season, will broadcast the game, and the UNLV-TCU game is part of a MWC doubleheader, starting with #16 New Mexico at #19 BYU at 6 pm (PST).
The game is also key for both teams as well, as UNLV needs a win to remain in the top half of the conference standings, while a loss would send them into a tie for fifth. TCU meanwhile is just one game behind second-place New Mexico.
The Thomas & Mack Center has been very friendly to the Lady Rebels recently, as they are 8-0 in the TMC over the past two seasons, including an upset win over 2005 MWC Champions New Mexico. UNLV has won four games in the TMC this season (Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee Tech, Troy and Lamar).
TCU has overtaken UNLV's spot as the league's top offensive team, but UNLV is at the top of the league in several defensive categories. The Lady Rebels are currently leading the conference in blocks (4.39 bpg), are second in steals (10.44 spg) and third in rebound margin (+5.6)
With their win over Air Force on Jan. 25, the Lady Rebels are just three wins away from their 600th win in program history, a mark only 34 schools have reached in NCAA history.
