LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's basketball senior Louis Amundson has been selected as a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division I All-District Teams, which were announced by the NABC.
Amundson was honored by being named to the District 15 Second Team along with Cal State Fullerton's Bobby Brown, Arizona State's Kevin Kruger (son of UNLV head coach Lon Kruger), Loyola Marymount's Matthew Knight and San Diego's Nick Lewis.
Amundson, a 6-9 forward, leads UNLV this season in scoring and rebounding with 14.3 ppg and 9.1 rpg. He also leads the team in blocked shots and has recorded nine double-doubles in points and rebounds this season. Amundon is third in the MWC in rebounding and seventh in scoring.
Amundson, who has scored in double figures 18 times this season and has scored over 20 points in a game six times, was also named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 Second Team.
The NABC All-District 15 First Team consists of UCLA's Jordan Farmar and Aaron Afflalo, Arizona's Hassan Adams and USC's Gabe Pruitt and Nick Young.
The NABC Division I All-District Teams recognize the country's best men's collegiate basketball student--athletes and are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. The 150 student-athletes who made first team from the 15 districts are now eligible for the NABC Division I AlL-American team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2005-06 NCAA men's basketball season.
