Tempe, Ariz. - The Rebel softball team (13-21) lost both games of its doubleheader against #9/9 Arizona State (34-3) Farrington Stadium in Tempe, Ariz., on Friday afternoon. The Sun Devils won a tight affair in game one, 3-1, while run-ruling the Rebels in game two, 10-1 (five innings). With the two loses the Rebels have now dropped nine straight, with all of the losses coming on the road.

In game one, ASU's Kristen Miller put her team up for good with a two-run home run in the third inning. Kim Zadrozny opened the frame with a walk. Delenah Langley entered the game to pinch run for Zadrozny and scored on the home run to right center.

Shannon Crisp (6-10) pulled the Rebels within one run with a two-out solo home run in the fourth inning.

The home run was the last hit that UNLV would get off of Katie Burkhart (14-1). In the circle, Burkhart allowed one run and two hits, while striking out eight.

ASU added an insurance run in the sixth inning with help from a lead-off walk to Kaitlin Cochran, who later moved around the bases with help from a sacrifice bunt, a fly out and an Ashley Werschky single.

Crisp took the loss for UNLV, while throwing 6.0 innings and allowing three runs and five hits. She walked four and struck out three.

In game two, the Sun Devil offense came alive with 10 runs on 12 hits. ASU scored in all but the fourth inning as they plated single runs in the first and third, six in the second and two in the fifth. UNLV's lone run came in the fourth on a sacrifice fly hit by Crisp.

Christie Robinson (4-8) took the loss for UNLV as she surrendered seven hits and seven runs (three earned) in 2.0 innings of work.

ASU took a 1-0 lead after one with help from a Bridgette Caron double to left center. Jessica Mapes opened the Sun Devil at-bat with a bunt single and scored from first on the double.

The Sun Devils plated six in the second on five hits and one error.

Becky McDonald entered the circle in relief of Robinson in the third inning. ASU touched her up for one run in the third and the game-ending two runs in the fifth. McDonald was credited with 2.2 innings pitched and gave up five hits and three runs (one earned). She walked one and struck out one.

Up next for the Rebels is a three-game series in Las Vegas, Nev., against the Missouri Tigers. A doubleheader is scheduled for Monday, March 27 with first pitch scheduled for 5 pm. The third game of the series will be played on Tuesday, March 28 at 5 pm. These will be the first games to be played in the friendly confines of Eller Media Stadium since March 5th.
