LAS VEGAS - In game five of the Mountain West Softball Tournament, No. 4 seed UNLV (26-36) defeated No. 6 seed New Mexico (23-31), 4-0, behind Rebel starter Shannon Crisp's complete game shutout and three-run home run in the sixth inning. With the victory the Rebels move on to the semifinals Friday, May 12 at 4:30 p.m. (PDT) against No. 3 seed Utah.

Crisp (11-16) tossed a strong game in the circle, striking out five and walking one while giving up just five hits to the Lobos on the afternoon. It was the eighth complete game of the year for Crisp and her first solo shutout of the season.

UNLV scored the first run of the game when Kendall Fearn hit a one-out double to the left-center gap. Fearn came around to score one out later on a double by Caitlyn Paus to the same spot that gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead.

UNM threatened to tie the game, putting runners on first and second with no one out in the top of the sixth inning but Crisp worked out of the jam to preserve the Rebel lead. She got a ground out for the first out, a foul out and then UNM leftfielder Ashley Allen lined out softly to end the inning.

The Rebels got scoring opportunities of their own in the bottom of the sixth and capitalized with Crisp's three-run shot. Brittany Freight and Maggie Livreri reached base prior to the home run on a single and a walk, respectively.
