LAS VEGAS - Five media guides produced this past school year by UNLV athletics received regional and national honors, which were announced this week by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Judged by selected members of the media and professionals from the printing industry, all of the publications finished in the top two regionally and among the top 25 in the nation.
The 2005 UNLV football guide, produced by associate director for sports information Mark Wallington, assistant SID Bryan Haines and graphic arts coordinator Paul Palmer, earned second in its district and 10th in the nation. It marked the second time in four years that the Rebel football publication landed in the country's top 10. Haines also earned a top-10 finish for his women's golf guide, which was first in its district and 10th overall.
The 2005-06 UNLV men's basketball guide, created by media relations director Andy Grossman, earned second in its district and a best-ever 21st in the country. Also, Grossman's men's golf guide took second in the district and 20th in the nation.
In addition, last season's UNLV men's and women's soccer guide, produced by assistant SID Mark Wasik, was awarded third in the country in the multiple-sport guides contest for the second straight year.
