LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team has placed four student-athletes on the Spring 2006 Academic All-MWC team and one has also been named a MWC Scholar-Athlete.
The six Rebel golfers to be honored on this year's Academic All-MWC squad are sophomore C.J. Gatto, senior Andres Gonzales, freshman Seung-Su Han, sophomore Matt Kinsinger, sophomore Jarred Texter and freshman Blake Trimble.
Kinsinger was also honored by being named a MWC Scholar-Athlete. Gatto is a communication studies major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.37, Gonzales is also a communication studies major with a 3.05 GPA, Han is a university studies major with a 3.01 GPA, Kinsinger is a finance major with a 3.85 GPA and Texter and Trimble are both communication studies majors with GPA's of 3.26 and 3.25 respectively.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MWC team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the school while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their team.
To be eligible for selection as a MWC Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition for their athletic team.
