Recap | Final Stats

UNLV vs. Hawaii Game Notes (9-16-06)

-UNLV played Hawaii for the first time since 2000, which marked the first of six games in seven years scheduled between the Rebels and the Warriors.

-UH broke a three-game losing streak to UNLV and now leads the overall series 11-6. The Rebels fell to 2-7 all-time on the islands.

-The Rebels lost their 11th consecutive road game, which dates back to 2004.

-Sophomore quarterback Rocky Hinds started the game just one week after injuring his knee and missing most of the game at Iowa State.

-With star place-kicker Sergio Aguayo sidelined with a knee injury, UNLV chose to go on three long fourth-down attempts in UH territory during the first 20 minutes of the game and failed on all of them, which allowed the Warriors to build a quick 21-0 lead.

-UNLV allowed more points in the first half (28) than its first two opponents had in eight quarters combined (26).

-Rocky Hinds threw his first career interception on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter and it was returned 32 yards for a UH touchdown. Hinds had not been picked off in his first 51 attempts.

-UNLV running back David Peeples got his team on the board with just under four minutes left in the third quarter with a one-yard run. It marked the freshman's third rushing score of the season.

-After returning to Las Vegas on Sunday, UNLV will have flown 8,418 miles over the last two weeks (at Iowa State and at UH).
