TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 15 UNLV men's golf team has a one-shot lead at the PING Arizona Intercollegiate, which was suspended during the second round of play because of darkness on Monday. The tournament is being held at Arizona National Golf Club (par 71, 6,793 yards).
The first day of play was scheduled for 36 holes. UNLV shot an opening-round-low 9-under-par 275 and was at 17-under par through 15 holes during the second round of play when the tournament was halted. BYU shot an opening-round 2-under 282 and ended the day in second place at 16-under through 14 holes.
Host Arizona is third at 13-under through 15 holes. The Wildcats shot an opening-round 8-under 276. UC Irvine and Tennessee both shot first-round scores of 3-under 281 and are both tied for fourth place at 5-under through 14 holes of the second round.
Arizona's Brian Prouty shot an opening-round 9-under 62 and leads the field at 12-under through 15 holes of the second round. Arizona State's Niklas Lemke shot an opening-round 4-under 67 and is in second place at 10-under through 15 holes.
UNLV juniors C.J. Gatto and Jarred Texter paced the Rebels and are tied for fourth at 7-under through 15 holes. Gatto opened play with a 4-under 67, while Texter shot an opening-round 7-under 64. Senior Ryan Keeney is tied for 18th at 2-under after opening play with a 2-over 73. Sophomore Eddie Olson is tied for 25th at even par and shot an opening-round 1-over 72, while junior Matt Kinsinger rounds out the Rebels in a tie for 48th at 4-over. Kinsinger shot an opening-round 1-over 72.
Second-round play will resume Tuesday morning at approximately 8 a.m. MST. The third and final round of play will also be played on Tuesday.
