LAS VEGAS - Second Round Results

UNLV women's golf made the turn so to speak at its own tournament and the Rebels are currently 13th following Tuesday's second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Open, which is being played at Angel Park Golf Club.

The Rebels posted a second-round score of 306 (+18) and has a total score of 611 (+35) on the par-72, 3,050-yard course heading into Wednesday's final round.

The University of Denver put together its second-straight sub-par round, carding a three-under 285 as a team to move to the top of the leaderboard with a score of 570 (-6). The Pioneers have a five-stroke lead over Arizona (575, -1), and those two teams are the only squads to have team scores of par or better. Katie Kempter is leading the charge for UD, as she has the individual lead with an eight-under 136 (67-69), three strokes better than Alejandra Llaneza of Arizona and Marci Turner of Tennesse, who are tied for second with a score of 139 (-5).

Rebel rookie Therese Koelbaek remains in the top 20, as the freshman is tied for 15th with a two-round total of 147 (72-75, +3) heading into tomorrow's final round. Koelbaek was at even par through 11 holes on Tuesday, but a string of three-straight bogies hurt her score and she finished with a three-over 75 on the day.

Alejandra Guacaneme is next for the Rebels, as she is tied for 46th with a two-round total of 151 (75-76, +7). She is followed by Natasha Krishna who is tied for 64th with a 155 (79-76, +11), Tonya Choate who is tied for 80th with a 161 (82-79, +17) and Kasi Lee who is tied for 87th with a 164 (79-85, +20).

UNLV also had two players competing as individuals as Melissa Mabanta is tied for 60th with a 154 (79-75, +10) and Nicole McGirr is tied for 80th with a score of 161 (83-78, +17). The three-over 75 was the best round of the year for Mabanta.
