UNLV HEAD COACH Mike Sanford POST-GAME QUOTES
OVERALL ON THE GAME:
This hurts. That is all I can say is this hurts. It was a tale of two halves. I thought that we would come out of the gates going hard and I don't know what happened in the first half. But I do know that we came back in the second half and we had a chance to win the game.
ON THE KICKOFF RETURN FOR A TOUCHDOWN:
The kickoff return for a touchdown, that broke our back. That was the difference maker.
The interception return for a touchdown and the long pass play in the first half. You can't have big plays against you. I thought we fought hard and played well enough in the second half to win the game. We had a chance there in the second half to get over the hump and they returned the kick for a touchdown.
ON THE PERFORMANCE OF QB Travis Dixon:
I thought he did a great job. He came in and rallied the troops and played with a lot of grit and courage. I thought he did a lot of good things.
ON THE PLAY OF RB Frank Summers:
Frank Summers ran very well and I thought we blocked well. There were some positive things there.
ON THE STATUS OF QB Omar Clayton:
He has a broken bone in the metacarpal of his right hand. I don't know his status right now. He is going to have wear a cast. The chances are slim (of him playing next week)."
